frankfurt.

We arrived in Frankfurt very very early (5:20am!). So early that our hotel was not ready - so we dumped our bags and went straight for the breakfast buffet. I had smoked salmon with cream cheese, salami, buffalo mozzarella with pesto and cherry tomatoes and a danish. Yum.

The balcony was covered with Christmas decorations - including this deer.

We then decided to go for a wander around the area. There were streets filled with bars, cafes and delicatessens.

I got some great shots while the sun was rising.

Such beautiful architecture.

I then went back to the hotel and bundled up for the winter weather - BRING IT ON, WINTER!

We went to the local Christmas market and had bratwurst hot dogs and fries for lunch - delicious!

After experiencing some of the winter chill, I thought it appropriate that I enjoy some mulled wine - aka gluhwein. It was a bit too sweet, but good nonetheless.

We went to a beautiful little restaurant outside the Alte Oper Frankfurt building for dinner. This very quaint little place with lovely staff and delicious food and wine. We shared a bottle of red wine over wild boar then wandered back to the hotel in the freshly falling snow.
